Coaching

Coaching program with Lauren Boden, December 2011
We have organised a wonderful coaching opportunity with Lauren Boden, current Australian Athlete (2011 World Championship 400m hurdles semi-finalist and National 400m hurdle Champion), former Corroboree Club Little Athlete and Level 3 Track and Field Coach. Lauren will be conducting a 4-week coaching program commencing 23 November on Wednesday evenings at Merici Oval from 5.30pm – 6:30pm (the same time as the Club coaching). Sessions are open to athletes aged 11 and over.

We will also look at running another program in the New Year in the lead up to Northside Regionals and ACT Championships if demand is sufficient.

MattyB DEPT and FIT4FUN
During season 2010-11, Little Athletics ACT and Matty B DEPT presented FIT4FUN (Fun In Training Fostering Understanding Nurturing), a junior training program for athletes under 12-15 (or aged 12-15). Sessions were proudly endorsed by Little Athletics ACT. MattyB DEPT is managed by Matt Beckenham and a squad qualified coaches (and top Australian athletes), including Lauren Boden, Melissa Breen and Tom Burbidge provided tuition.

Stay posted for information regarding sessions during the 2011-12 season.

Active Afters Training Program
The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) runs the Active Afters program which provides specialised sporting tuition to after school care groups.

Little Athletics became a member of the program in 2009, however due to a lack of qualified presenters only a small number of after school care programs are benefitting from the athletics program.

In order to work as a presenter you must complete a course run by the ASC and be cleared to work with children. Applicants completing the course and clearance will be paid by ACT Little Athletics to work in the Active Afters program. To register or find out more information, please contact Rebekah Gupte in the Little Athletics ACT on 6247 1296 or email development@actlaa.org.au

ACT Track and Field Coaches Association
New and exciting coaching programs will be made available to athletes and coaches throughout the season. Please refer to the Athletics Coach Accreditation Framework which highlights the pathways for accredited coaches in the sport of Athletics.
