Corroboree Life Membership awarded
We all had to keep it pretty quiet over the off season, but the Club is pleased to finally announce its first Life Member - John Hunt.

John has been a stalwart of the club for many years, taking on almost every role possible and guiding the ship for several years. John continues at the club in the capacity of Head Coach where he offers his expert techinical advice to budding athletes twice weekly (Monday and Wednesdays).

We thank John for his committment and dedication to our club and the wider athletics community, and look forward to continuing the relationship for many years to come. Learn more about John and his pursuits in the 2010-11 Year Book - now available under Publications.

Lauren Boden at the World Athletics Champs
Lauren Boden, former Corroboree athlete, ran an impressive race to finish fourth in her heat of the Women's 400m Hurdles and set a new season’s best time of 55.78sec. This results progressed her into the semi-final. Lauren finished 7th in her semi in a time of 56.68sec, which placed her 20th in the world overall.
From Lauren's blog:
"Tonight I ran in my first ever W400H semi final at a World Championships and it was an amazing experience! ... Overall I was actually quite happy with my run and unfortunately there was a massive headwind to battle for the last 100m! But that is racing and often there are things that you can't control! Tonight was an amazing and invaluable experience, especially as I look ahead now to 2012 London Olympics."
You can follow Lauren and her pursuits through her website www.laurenboden.com

Thanks John!
Our very own Head Coach, John Hunt, was awarded a Thanks Award by the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, Mr Andrew Barr MLA, in October 2010 for his contribution to athletics in a voluntary capacity.
John first became involved with the Corroboree Little Athletics in 1988 when his son joined the Centre. Since that time John has become an integral part of the athletics community. John was the Health & Safety Director on the ACTLAA Board of Manangement for a number of years even after his son had left the sport. John is still a keen competitor and has a passion for coaching Little Athletes in high jump.
Corroboree owes John a huge debt of gratitude for the tireless hours he puts in with our young athletes. Well done John!
